Positions are available in India Meteorological Department for 19 (Nineteen) posts of Research Scientist, Research Associate-I (RA-I), Research Associate-II (RA-II), Research Associate-III (RA-III) and Junior Research Fellow (JRF) as per the following details for engagement on Project Mode (Contract basis).

• Project Name – Archival and digitization of seismic analog charts (Total Post-1, RS-1): Positions are available for 1 (one) Research Scientist in the above project will work to manage various activities of the project, including quality checks of scanned/ digitized/ SEISAN date for entire period of project.

• Project Name - Upgradation of Hydromet Services (Total Post-2, RA-I-2) : Positions are available for 2 (Two) Research Associate-I (RA-I) in the above Project for work in introducing automation in rainfall data processing and developing value added products by providing computational facilities.

• Project Name – Metropolitan Weather Information and Forecast System for NCR of Delhi (Total Post-2, RA-I-2): Positions are available for 2 (Two) Research Associate-I (RA-I) in the above Project for work in R&D programmes in the field of Numerical Weather Prediction, Graphics Generation, Hardware Networking etc.

• Project Name – Improvement of Space Meteorology (Total Post-5, RA-II-4, JRF-1): Positions are available for 4 (Four) Research Associate-II (RA-II) and 1(One) Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the above project for work in the field of development/ analysis/ processing of Satellite Meteorological data and products.

• Project Name – Continuance of Earthquake Risk Evaluation Centre (Total Post-9, RA-I-9): Positions are available for 9 (Nine) Research Associate-I (RA-I) in the above project for task related to earthquake risk evaluation.

Selection Procedure / Appointment : Walk in interview will be held on 28.01.2011 at 09.30 Hrs at Mausam Bhawan, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The selected candidates will be offered Fellowship at IMD for an initial period of 1 year or upto 31.03.2012 which ever is earlier and may be extended by another year based on the performance of the candidate and requirement in the Department. The above positions are purely temporary contractual and co-terminus with the project. There is no provision of re-employment after termination of the project. No TA/DA will be paid to any candidate for attending the interview.
